Some days
I just like to wonder
About the strong and courageous
I can't help but think that we have it all wrong
None of us are
Strong
Or
Courageous
Or even noble
Then again, none of us are so weak
That we crumble to dust
At the faintest breeze.
Our strength
Is so much more
It's not morality that's called into question,
Not at all, you see
The question is begging to know,
Calling out for an answer
How long will you persevere?
How strong
How truly strong are you?
We all have our answer
But, like the snowflakes that drift lazily in winter
No two answers will ever be the same
And no answer will ever be wrong
Friends, it begs the question:
What are we?
Noble? Courageous?
Crumbling? Weak?
No.
We are compromise.
A combination of those characteristics.
Nobly weak,
Courageously crumbling
That's
All
We
Ever
Were.
Mediocre.
Beautifully mediocre.
