The day the sky looked like the sea
He promised, he vowed to look out for me
Foundation to stand on
Quite stable until gone
Now shaky, I stand in the breeze
The day the sky looked like the sea
I waited and watched, hoping that he
Would return from his quest
Yet I stayed waiting, lest
I forgot, in the midst, how to breathe
The day the sky looked like the sea
Mother cried, her sorrow swept over me
Like a flood unexpected
Her fears uncorrected
How he, like a fool, lied to she
The day the sky looked like the sea
Brings faithfully back the memory
Of the day he regrets
But too late, beset
To be in her life, only leave
The day the sky looked like the sea
That same night, it all occurred to me
Love is not bounds nor chains
Yet actions whose purpose is soothing pains
And foundation with strength peacefully
The day the sky looked like the sea
He, the clouds, tried to cover how she
Moved strong and swift, waving
Past overcast cravings
And the sea, for a time, truly free
