It comes when you need it most
Here I stand corrected
Wishing it would be my host
Ushering me to blackness
Or at least a better place
Than this torturous chamber of where I am
Sleep, come at a faster pace
Not always expected

Like a twist in the road of our lives
Like a blind spot looking back as he drives Her home It's all unknown It's "I'm sorry" as she's walking away It's "I'm proud of you" at the end of her long, hard day And "It'll be alright" when she's broken But he leaves it unspoken Come home, come home Because tomorrow could be the last day Come home, come home Life can be funny that way Take the time that you have Make it count, make it last We don't know what tomorrow could bring So be ready now For anything Stepping out of his comfort zone now Knowing life is a story around That unfolds What's ahead is untold It's how he holds her when she feels alone It's that call "I've been missing you, so I picked up the phone" And "please forgive me for tears that you've cried" But it's all been denied Tomorrow's unknown The future's unspoken Change is untold Life is a token Treasure it now Before it's too late And realize your blessings They're yours to make great Little eyes flutter shut
Dreams now flash before Of perfect scenes from paradise On that quite so distant shore Little eyes open scared Reality now seen The heavenly scene simply a myth How harsh, this world, and mean Little eyes scanning quick To bring in what is true Glimpses now of a paradise lost Still seen; there's less to rue |
AuthorI simply enjoy the act of writing. How much greater would life be Keeping it on record.
